Mozilla Will Let Rival Browsers Run Firefox Security Tool

Mozilla launches Web-based plug-in update service that checks for out-of-date Firefox plug-ins. The service is part of the company’s effort to prod people into upgrading potentially-vulnerable add-ons, such as Adobe Flash Player. Service currently works only in Firefox, but Mozilla wants to open it to other browsers. Firefox 3.6, which is slated to launch in beta next Wednesday, will warn users when they visit a Web site that relies on an outdated add-in.”]
