Microsoft releases Windows patch to disable Intel’s buggy Spectre fix

Microsoft issues an out-of-band patch to disable Intel’s Spectre variant 2 microcode fix. The fixes were “garbage,” Linux creator Linus Torvalds said in a rant. Microsoft issued an emergency patch over the weekend to disable the fix. Intel told Chinese firms about chip flaw before it told the U.S. government, Wall Street Journal reported. At this time, experts have seen no evidence to suggest the information was used to launch attacks.
