Microsoft Releases Emergency Patches for IE 0-Day and Windows Defender Flaw

Microsoft is rolling out emergency out-of-band security patches for two new vulnerabilities. One of which is a critical Internet Explorer zero-day that cyber criminals are actively exploiting in the wild. The vulnerability affects Internet Explorer versions 9, 10, 11, and affects versions of Windows 8 and later versions of the operating system. Microsoft also released a second security update to patch a vulnerability in Microsoft Defender, an anti-malware engine. Users are advised to deploy the security updates as soon as possible.
