The Free Software Foundation (FSF) is asking Microsoft to ‘upcycle’ Windows 7 and allow the community to continue to improve it after its end of life. Windows 7 reached end of support on January 14, almost two weeks ago, a decade after its initial release. Microsoft still draws revenue from millions of Windows 7 enterprise users via the Extended Security Update (ESU) program. FSF wants 7,777 supporters to sign their petition and, at the moment, the petition’s page shows that enough people are already behind it.
