Medical Device Security Stymied by Legacy Tech, Flawed Segmentation

Forescout analyzed data from 3.3 million devices on hundreds of healthcare networks for its 2020 Connected Medical Device Security report. The majority of US hospitals reported falling victim to a significant security incident in the past two years. The report also showed a 40 percent decrease in devices operating on unsupported Windows versions, from 71 percent in 2019 to 32 percent this year. Segmentation is fundamental for limiting the attack surface in healthcare, achieved by combining several techniques like VLANs, Access Control Lists, firewalls, and subnets.”]
