Researchers are closely watching the rise of malware on Internet-enabled mobile devices. New mobile malware boasts a broad range of functionality, including the ability to download other malicious files, detect internetconnections or establish new ones, undertake URL redirection and carry out phishing attacks. Fake Minecraft Modpacks on Google Play deliver millions of abusive ads and make normal phone use impossible. The Roaming Mantis group is targeting the States with a malware that can steal information, harvest financial data and send texts to self-propagate.
