Malaysia’s Central Bank Blocks Attempted SWIFT Fraud

Malaysia’s central bank says it detected and successfully blocked a Tuesday attack that attempted to steal funds via fraudulent SWIFT interbank messages. Bank Negara Malaysia’s warning that it was targeted led to a Wednesday warning from the Philippine central bank to the banks it supervises. The bank has not identified a potential culprit behind the attack. Attackers have continued to target banks via fraudulent messages, such as the Bangladesh heist of $81 million from the central bank of Bangladesh’s account at the New York Federal Reserve.”]
