Making Sense of Raytheon and Websense

Defense contractor Raytheon announced its acquisition of security veteran Websense for approximately $1.6 billion. The Washington crowd has struggled to understand how to communicate with the private sector and deliver focused solutions rather than project-based tool kits. The combined entity has the right stuff to become a player in the commercial market, says John Defterios. Websense will not merge with the defense contractor but rather with the company’s cybersecurity division, which is already focused on cybersecurity, he says.
