Maiffret: If it’s a Linux flaw, your phone is directly threatened

Marc Maiffret, co-founder of eEye and now — through acquisition — CTO of BeyondTrust, spoke at ISSA-LA’s Security Summit IV. He suggested that threats to mobile phones and tablets are not new at all. He said attacks are the same as they’ve been for a long time with PCs and laptops, but now they are delivered through social media. He noted how Linux is running beneath the shiny apps and interfaces of just about every smart phone. The challenge is in how best to secure networks that are increasingly touched by consumer devices.”]
