Mac OS X Sandboxing Flaw Reported

A security firm claims to have found a flaw in the sandboxing functionality of Mac OS X. The flaw could allow rogue apps to execute commands without the knowledge of the user. Apple announced last week that all apps submitted to the Mac App Store will have to implement the system in order to gain approval. The vulnerabilities, it said, exist in OS X Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion. CoreLabs has reported the issue to Apple, which has not made a public statement. One of the commenters on a rival security firm’s blog expressed doubts that the firm’s assessment of the issue was correct.”]
