London Borough of Hackney suffers ‘serious’ cyberattack

Hackney Borough Council’s IT systems have been hit with a cyberattack that impacts many of their services and IT systems. Not much is known about the attack, but in a press release to the borough’s website, Mayor Philip Glanville stated that it was Hackney’s IT system that had suffered the attack. The borough states that they are working with the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) to investigate the attack and are in the early stages of the investigation. There is also a chance that unencrypted files were stolen before the hackers began encrypting the network’s devices.
