During the launch of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre Prime Minister Andrew Holness spoke on the issues affecting Jamaica regarding cybersecurity.
The Prime Minister discussed how Jamaica is in the process of improving its cybersecurity efforts. This included measures such as acquiring new technology, training and developing a system of security around data and the digital environment. He noted that the region is behind on issues of cybersecurity, as the absence of a physical threat results in it being underestimated by governing bodies.
He also spoke on the purpose of the Global Tourism Resilience and Crisis Management Centre. This is to create solutions for issues that threaten tourism around the region and globally. These include climate change, cybercrime, pandemics, wars, etc. This centre is just one amongst other things that aim to assist global tourism.
