Irie FM published an article on October 29, 2019, about the Opposition questioning the Jamaica/Israel Cyber Security Agreement. Here’s a quick summary for you.
The opposition members were heavily prodding for details of the cybersecurity agreements between Jamaica and Israel. Questions have long since been raised about dealings with certain state-owned entities in Israel as allegations of corruption were brought up. Questions included:
- Details about the equipment such as intelligence gathering hardware being provided by Israel companies.
- The names of the companies.
- If the companies are state-owned entities in Israel which are in contractual arrangements with the JCF and JDF.
- Whether there are service contracts in place for the equipment and software.
The Opposition continued their conquest for answers, as they were not satisfied with the answers provided by the ministers. The Prime Minister intervened stating some details could not be disclosed due to the sensitive nature of the information. The Prime Minister then suggested that the questions be answered through the internal and external affairs committee of Parliament.
