Christopher Victor Grupe, 46, worked as IT professional for Canadian Pacific Railway. He was suspended for 12 days in December 2015 for yelling and using inadequate language with his boss. Management told Grupe they were going to fire him for insubordination. Grupe asked management to resign and promised to return his laptop, remote access device, and access badges. He then accessed the company’s network and deleted log files. CPR estimated the damage Grupe caused at around $30,000. A court sentenced Grupe to one year and one day in prison.
