IRS: Actually, that breach last year was way worse than we thought

A cyberattack on the IRS’s Get Transcript app was discovered last year. The IRS says 390,000 people’s information could have been accessed. Thieves believed to have stolen Social Security details, dates of birth and street addresses from an outside, non-IRS source. The thieves used that information to clear a multistep authentication process in the app. Those affected can request an Identity Protect PIN for extra protection, and the IRS is offering free Equifax identity theft protection for one year.”]
