IRS: Actually, that breach last year was way worse than we thought

A cyberattack on the IRS’s Get Transcript app was discovered last year. The IRS says 390,000 people’s information could have been accessed. Thieves believed to have stolen Social Security details, dates of birth and street addresses from an outside, non-IRS source. Those affected can request an Identity Protect PIN for extra protection, as well as free Equifax identity theft protection. The Get Transcript application has been offline since the original breach was discovered in May. It will begin alerting the newly identified victims via mailings starting Monday.”]
