Interior Dept. Grounds Drones Over Cybersecurity Concerns

The U.S. Department of the Interior has temporarily grounded all drone operations, except for emergencies. The department cites concerns over cybersecurity, technological development and domestic production issues. The agency says it uses drones for emergency management, surveying federal land, collecting research data and assisting law enforcement. DJI says that the company is “extremely disappointed” by the decision and called the order politically motivated. The Department of Homeland Security issued its own warning in May 2019 about how cyber spies could intercept data from drones made in China.”]
