HSPD-12 Biometric Specification Finalized.

Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 of Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 12 is a mandate issued by President Bush to create an interoperable ID card. The standard outlines the policies and formats for biometric images, like fingerprints or facial scans, agencies will use on PIV cards. “The primary objective behind these particular specifications is high-performance interoperability,” the NIST said. “And vendors can now submit products for testing and certification by NIST and the General Services Administration””]
