Hewlett-Packard’s WebOS beta version of the open-source version of WebOS is on its way out the door. Friday’s release includes two environments for developers. The release will have 54 components available as open source, the blog says, some 450,000 lines of code under the Apache 2.0 license. HP cited that it included OpenEmbedded because of its “widespread community adoption” and cross-compiling support for embedded platforms. The plans to take webOS open source were first announced eight months ago.
