Data centers are a largely invisible infrastructure that is vital to the way we live today. Facebook is rushing to build the physical infrastructure needed to do it efficiently. The company has hired architects to design Ikea-inspired data centers that can be assembled cheaper, faster, and more efficiently than other buildings. Facebook’s Director of Hardware Engineering, Matt Corddry, leads the team that creates the hardware used in Facebook’s data centers.
