Verizon releases its annual Data Breach Investigations Report on last year’s security breaches. The report shows that most of the year’s hackers don’t even have to be skilled. 75 percent of the attacks were characterized as “opportunistic” and 78 percent of hacks were of “low” difficulty or lower. 2012 saw 47,000 reported security incidents, 621 confirmed data disclosures, 44 million compromised personal records, according to the report.
