The Criminal Investigation Bureau (CIB) has launched a crackdown on hacking in Taiwan. The police say they are aware of the threat posed by hackers using a technique called ‘SQL injection’ The technique is used to take advantage of non-validated input vulnerabilities to pass commands through a Web application for execution by a back-up database. The result is that the user can execute arbitrary commands on the backend database through the Web application through the application. The report was launched by the CIB after it received a report from the website.
