Govt.-Backed Contact-Tracing Apps Raise Privacy Hackles

Electronic Frontier Foundation calls for privacy standards for state COVID-19 mobile tracking apps. Three California lawmakers have expressed concerns about the lack of privacy in the state’s plans for a state-wide program. The group is calling for privacy guardrails in the plans for the state s plans. Other states have already launched similar programs that use mobile technology to track exposure of the health-enhancing program. Back in April, the group warned against the potential for cybercriminal use and exploitation of the program.
