Google’s Quest to Kill the Cookie Is Creating a Privacy Shitshow

Federated Learning of Cohorts, or FLoC, is a new kind of tracking technique thats meant to be a friendlier, more privacy-protective alternative to the trackers we all know and loathe. The new technology is meant to replace the crumbling third-party tracking cookie. The Electronic Frontier Foundation says it’s tailor-made for predatory targeting. Google is testing the new technology in its Chrome browser, and it’s expected to fully implement it by 2022. The company says there’s been 33,872 users in the trial so far.”]
