Google refunds Android users who bought fake Virus Shield app

Virus Shield, a fake anti-virus app, was released earlier this month. It quickly rose to the top of the Google Play Store sales charts with 30,000 downloads. Google is now offering full refunds to anyone who bought the bogus app. It is also issuing a $5 Play Store credit, presumably in an attempt to regain some goodwill. The total cost to Google could be as high as $269,000 (160,000) Google has struggled to keep up with the problem of fake games and unofficial clones of legitimate apps.”]
