Google found guilty of patent infringement for using Linux

A jury in the Eastern District of Texas told Google that it owes Google $5 million in damages for using versions of Linux that infringe on Bedrock’s patents. Bedrock sued companies that use Linux claiming that the Linux kernel infringed on its patent for search technology. The jury upheld the validity of the patent even though it was using the lesser standard of “preponderance of evidence” Sources tell Network World that Google is considering an appeal, and Google will continue to defend against attacks like this one.”]
