Google has announced FIDO2 certification for devices running on Android 7 and above. Users can now use biometrics, fingerprint or PINs instead of passwords to log into apps and websites. Google has been part of the Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance since 2013 but only now has moved to offer FIDo2 support on its devices. The FIDSO Alliance is an industry consortium to address the problems users face creating and remembering multiple usernames and passwords. With emerging attacks that rely on stolen credentials, many apps and browsers are jumping on board.
