Google has announced that they will be expanding their ad filter to the rest of the world starting on July 9th 2019. With the release of Chrome 71 last December, Google started to filter ads in North America and Europe on sites that repeatedly displayed abusive ads. Examples of abusive ads include pop-up ads, auto-play video with sound, prestitial ads, and large sticky ads. Users can ultimately decide if they see ads on blocked sites. Google’s ad filtering policies have been able to push publishers who were using abusive ads to clean up their sites so that they are no longer failing.
