Gmail blocked 18M COVID-19-themed phishing emails in a week

Google says Gmail malware scanners blocked 18 million phishing and malware emails using COVID-19 lures in the last week. The malware scanners are capable of blocking over 99.9% of all spam, phishing, and malware sent to Gmail users. Google says that Gmail has so far phishing attacks in which the threat actors have been attempting to impersonate authoritative government organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) to solicit fraudulent donations or distribute malware. Threat actors have repurposed infrastructure used in other attacks and rethemed their attack campaigns to exploit the public fears caused by the outbreak.
