SAS 2019: Genesis Marketplace Peddles 60K Stolen Digital Identities

An underground marketplace is selling tens of thousands of compromised digital identities, paving the way for cybercriminals to commit online fraud. These identities are meant to evade automatic fraud detection systems that websites and online services use. The value of stolen identities range from $5 to $200, depending on how rich the information in the profile is. This type of digital-identity theft is growing in popularity as more cyber criminals recognize the benefits of sidestepping automated solutions meant to discover fraud, researchers say.
