HackerOne says that five more hackers have become millionaires after reporting security vulnerabilities through the vulnerability coordination and bug bounty platform. Security researchers that reported vulnerabilities through HackerOne bug bounty programs earned $21 million in the past year, representing an increase of $10 million over the previous year. The average critical vulnerability bug bounty paid to researchers increased 48% over last year s median across all involved industries to $3,384; up from $2,281 which represents a 71% jump over the 2016 average of $1,977.
