FFIEC Authentication Guidance: Final Update Issued

Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council releases long-awaited supplement to its “Authentication in an Internet Banking Environment” guidance. FFIEC says growing sophistication of online threats have increased risks for financial institutions and their customers. Industry has been anxiously awaiting the publication of these directives since last December. Examiners have been directed to formally assess financial institutions under the enhanced expectations outlined in the supplement beginning in January 2012. Industry experts have shared their likes and dislikes about the drafted guidance, many have speculated about when the official guidance would be published.”]
