Feds Propose Voluntary Automotive Cybersecurity Standards

U.S. federal government proposes voluntary cybersecurity guidelines aimed at getting carmakers to secure computers and electronics in automobiles. Two Senators say guidelines don’t go far enough, seek regulations. Lawmakers and the Obama administration have been reluctant to issue cybersecurity regulations. No groundswell exists in Washington to mandate automotive security standards, and most lawmakers favor a voluntary collaborative approach.
