FBI access to surveillance program expands in recent years

The U.S. government has expanded access to data collected by the NSA’s Prism program. The program is supposed to target people outside the United States. The FBI says it took a “commonsible” approach to collecting the data. The report was made public in response to a Freedom of Information Act request by the New York Times. It says the FBI took a responsible approach to the Prism program, but some of the data isn’t collected by U.N. agencies. The agency says it has no obligation to act on behalf of the government.”]
