Faux actor Jason Statham scammed a woman out of a significant amount of money. Victim was perusing a fan page for the actor on Facebook. Hundreds of WhatsApp messages flew between the two over the course of months. Scam highlights the gullibility of the victim, according to Tripwire researchers. These types of scams are on the rise because they re successful, they’re linked to generational and cultural norms, says Tyler Reguly, manager of security R&D at Tripwire.
