Facebook revised the total affected to 30 million, down from its original estimate of 50 million. The attackers accessed extensive personal information on nearly half of those affected. Facebook says the hackers did not gain access to financial information, such as credit card numbers. Gartner analyst Avivah Litan told Information Security Media Group on Sept. 28 that a nation-state likely was involved in the hack.
