The House Energy and Commerce Committee voted 45-4 yesterday in approval of the Securely Protect Yourself Against Cyber Tresspass (aka the Spy Act) The bill would require companies to get user’s consent before installing “spyware” on their computers. The bill now moves to the full House where it may compete with another spyware bill that focuses more on the people who commit fraud by using spyware, rather than the Internet technology itself. Only users of telephone modems are susceptible to this type of sofware attack.”]
