Organizations managing supercomputers across Europe reported their systems have been compromised to deploy cryptocurrency miners. The incidents have been already reported in the UK, Germany, and Switzerland. A similar infection of a supercomputer located in Spain has also been reported. Experts speculate that the supercomputing were hacked by nation-state actors because they were involved in the research on the COVID-19 outbreak.
