Expert skeptical of alleged U.S cyberattack on French computers

The U.S. Embassy in Paris denies the country’s involvement in the Elysee Palace’s cyberattack. The magazine l’Express reported that hackers stole classified information from computers used by Nicolas Sarkozy’s adviser. A cybersecurity expert said he was skeptical, given how well countries are able to cover their digital tracks. The attack was likely motivated by a desire to know how a potential change in presidents would impact relations France has with Mideast countries, the magazine reported. Israel is suspected of hacking government networks to gather information on potential changes of U.K. policies in the Middle East.”]
