Excellus BCBS discloses breach, 10 million members affected

Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, a health insurer in upstate New York, says its systems and affiliates had been compromised. The breach was discovered on August 5, and additional investigation revealed that the incident started around Christmas in 2013. The company is offering two years of credit monitoring and identity theft protection to those affected. There is no evidence that any personal information was exported from the network, but there is no indication that any information was taken from the system. Those affected will be contacted by postal mail.”]
