Discussions by Policy-makers to improve Cyber Security

Caribbean Telecommunication Unit (CTU) published an article on March 16, 2016, titled “Policy makers discuss improving cybersecurity”

The Bank of Nova Scotia in Jamaica has been hit with a regional Cybercrime that valued US$150 million.

  • In 2016, Ministers in the five different countries of Commonwealth had a meeting discussing how they can improve cyber security in the region. Through this platform, persons were able to address challenges and were also able to develop a regional action plan.
  • This would allow the other CARICOM countries to share ideas, build each other throughout the weaknesses. It can also aid as support to developing the action because there might be a challenge that you’re having, but the other country had a similar problem and solved it successfully.
  • One of CARICOM’s strategic goals is to strengthen its resilience to cybercrime.
  • Cybercrime is considered to be a very crucial risk that can cause an undermining in economic health. CARICOM’s Crime and Security Strategy (CCSS) represents a comprehensive and integrated response when responding to common cybercrimes and threats that they face.
