Caribbean Telecommunication Unit (CTU) published an article on March 16, 2016, titled “Policy makers discuss improving cybersecurity”
The Bank of Nova Scotia in Jamaica has been hit with a regional Cybercrime that valued US$150 million.
- In 2016, Ministers in the five different countries of Commonwealth had a meeting discussing how they can improve cyber security in the region. Through this platform, persons were able to address challenges and were also able to develop a regional action plan.
- This would allow the other CARICOM countries to share ideas, build each other throughout the weaknesses. It can also aid as support to developing the action because there might be a challenge that you’re having, but the other country had a similar problem and solved it successfully.
- One of CARICOM’s strategic goals is to strengthen its resilience to cybercrime.
- Cybercrime is considered to be a very crucial risk that can cause an undermining in economic health. CARICOM’s Crime and Security Strategy (CCSS) represents a comprehensive and integrated response when responding to common cybercrimes and threats that they face.
