Department of Homeland Security has reconsidered a plan to use facial-recognition technology on all U.S. citizens traveling internationally through airports. The DHS announced last week that it would expand facial recognition checks to all travelers entering and leaving the United States, including previously-exempt citizens. Now the agency is saying it won t be required after hearing feedback from privacy advocates, according to an online statement. The agency already made changes to its system based on suggestions from privacy experts, which also include members of Congress.
