Security researcher Trevor Eckhart discovered that many Android devices come pre-loaded with software made by Carrier IQ. It s since been revealed that versions of the app may have been on other devices, but likely don t log users actions but provide analytical information for the carriers. The People Nearby feature in the secure messaging app can be abused to unmask a user’s precise location, a researcher said. A researcher scraped and archived public public posts before the conservative social networking service was taken down by Amazon, Apple and Google.
