Defense Contractor Hacking More Expansive Than First Thought

McAfee: Operation North Star was more expansive than first thought, with hackers using never-before-seen malicious tools to target specific victims. The operation targeted aerospace and defense contractors earlier this year. North Korean hackers are suspected, but further analysis is needed, the report notes. McAfee researchers found that, after gathering data on targets, the hacking group would determine if a certain victim was worth pursuing further by gathering additional intelligence. The report also noted that the hackers used legitimate web domains hosted in U.S. and Italy as part of the command-and-control infrastructure.”]
