Data Theft at the VA

Personal records for roughly 26.5 million veterans, stored in a laptop computer, were stolen from the home of a data analyst working for the Department of Veterans Affairs. The VA took almost three weeks to disclose that the theft ever happened. Government officials and veterans organizations are in an uproar that a breach of this magnitude was even possible.
