Data Loss and ID Theft Fears Altering Consumer Purchasing Behavior

A recent study shows consumers are modifying their purchasing behavior, including online buying, out of concern for the security of their personal information. The Ponemon Institute study found that 62 percent of the respondents have been notified that their confidential data has been lost. The study identified the majority of respondents surveyed were concerned about privacy concerns: medical records, pharmaceutical card numbers, credit card numbers and Social Security numbers among the top five most common concerns for consumers. The findings suggest that breach notification may affect consumer behavior.”]
