Cryptojacking Still a Foreign Concept for Many Security Pros

For over 57% of the 150 cybersecurity professionals surveyed by Exabeam the concept of cryptojacking is not something they are acquainted with. Shadow mining is a concept describing the process through which a malicious insider takes advantage of a company’s computing resources to mine for cryptocurrency. The professionals were interviewed by the security information and event management (SIEM) company at the 2019 Cloud and Cybersecurity Expo in London. By contrast, shadow mining (10 percent) is seen as the two most high profile security threats for companies, with shadow mining barely being mentioned.
