Hackers accessed and stolen usernames, email addresses, mailing addresses, phone numbers and encrypted passwords of the users. Hackers could attempt to crack the encrypted passwords, thus providing them access to a password that’s linked to a specific user account. Users are recommended to change their passwords for Kickstarter website and also for any other accounts that using the same password. Kickstarter did not say how many accounts were compromised, but the site has more than 5.9 million registered users. The company has not said how many users were affected.
