Visa, Mastercard and other major credit cards are finally focusing on securing personal information. The New York Times reports that while some credit card companies have been able to reduce financial losses stemming from fraud, they still struggle with preventing theft of card data. The companies are responsible for ensuring that all big retailers, data processors and banks that directly hook into its network meet its security requirements. But it is the job of the member banks to make sure that the merchants and data processors they hire follow Visas rules.”]
