Cox Media Group confirms ransomware attack that took down broadcasts

Cox Media Group confirmed that it was hit by a ransomware attack that took down live TV and radio broadcast streams in June 2021. The company acknowledged the attack in data breach notification letters sent today via U.S. Mail to over 800 impacted individuals believed to have had their personal info exposed in the attack. The media company found proof that the attackers harvested personal info stored on the breached systems. There is no evidence that they were successful in their attempt to exfiltrate this info outside of CMG’s network.”]
